President Drane's Parting Shot Spring 2023

April Drane, President, KBLA
May 1, 2023

Cottage Season 2023 is finally here and I can’t wait to spend as much time as possible on our beautiful Kahshe lake. This year we are excited to celebrate the 100th year as a Lake Association. Yes, our roots go back to 1923. I am not sure that we will receive an honorary letter from King Charles, as is customary when one reaches their 100th birthday. Nor do I expect we will celebrate in Coronation style. But hey, we may be 100 years old, but we have the post-pandemic energy of another 100 years.

The Board of Directors invites everyone to attend our AGM on June 24th from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. at the Trillium Court in the Opera House, where we will not only elect 5 new Board members but will pop open the champagne, eat cake, and mingle with friends, neighbours, and newcomers to the lake! So get out your vintage Kahshe Lake t-shirts, ball caps, and sweatshirts, and bring your family and friends to enjoy this opportunity to reflect on our Past and plan for the Future.

Be among the first to purchase Clare Henderson’s Commemorative Issue Volume 3 of The Healing Waters of Kahshe Lake. Perhaps he will even sign first-edition copies!

There will also be an exciting 100-year video presentation and music provided by one of our own! (Hint: The Kahshe Song).  We will also be celebrating around the Lake at our summer events presented above.

The association could not continue if it weren’t for all the many volunteers who have given so much of their time and energy serving on our Board, on our Committees, and at our Events. As our Centennial Project, we are updating our honorary list of all those who have volunteered over the years.

  • Volunteer 100 — 100+ hours of volunteering over the years.
  • Volunteer 75 — 75+ hours
  • Volunteer 50 — 50+hours
  • Volunteer 25 — 25+ hours

Make sure you or your family members make the list. I can’t imagine a better way to end my 2-year term as President than by celebrating our 100th anniversary.

The time has gone by quickly and there is still so much to do. My final message to our members and our community will be included in Clare’s Volume 3. See you at the AGM. Cheers to the 100th!
