President’s Update Spring 2026

Kim Train, President, KBLA
April 25, 2026

Spring has arrived, but has it sprung? The ice has officially disappeared from the lake. Like many families, we are keen to get to our water access cottage and start the season. Kahshe’s water levels are very high, although they have receded a few feet from where they were in mid-April. It is a direct contrast to how we left the cottage last fall.

I hope everyone finds their cottage, docks, and platforms only mildly affected by the high water. Last week, we found our swimming platform had been released from the anchors, but thankfully, it is sitting very close to our shoreline, tethered to a tree. I guess this is an opportunity to put it in a new spot for the season and double-check that our last name and address have been visibly marked on our raft.

Over the winter, the KBLA has been busy getting ready for the 2026 cottage season.

Annual General Meeting Moves to Kahshe Lake

The KBLA extends a heartfelt thank you to the Schleese family for welcoming the association to their Tack Building to host the 2026 Annual General Meeting. The Schleeses moved here about five years ago and have been thoughtfully restoring the historic barn and surrounding outbuildings, breathing new life into a space rich with character and history, preserving its past while carefully reimagining how it can be experienced today by the community.

Please note the space is still undergoing renovations. We hope to see many of you at this exciting new facility steps away from the lake.
