Gail Agnes Dykstra (nee Thomas) (1944 — Feb 26, 2012)

An Exceptional Mother With A Gift 

Gail passed away on February 26th at age 68 at Credit Valley Hospital after a short struggle with cancer. Gail had a way of turning every encounter into a golden moment. She loved a glass of chardonnay, a fun crowd, and good times. This exceptional mother we all came to love was not only an exceptional mother to Kathleen to whom she has passed on that rare gift but also to five special boys on the lake, her son Peter Dykstra, Brian and Mark McCauley, Brian Long and Ryan Swirla.  

She literally laid the foundation of what those boys have become over the 24 years since Gail and Pete came to Kahshe, successful husbands and fathers who now define the very fabric of Kahshe Lake.  Known to dozens of kids on the lake because of her involvement in the Kids’ Fishing Derby, she truly was an exceptional “mother.”  Gail was proud of her family and of her neighbors on the lake. We thank her for sharing her exceptional gift. She certainly made this world a better place!
