Becky Abitbol (Jan 18, 1950 — Jan 17, 2010)

Rebecca Jane Abitbol, better known by many on Kahshe as Becky Grindley passed away from lung cancer in January on the day before her 60th birthday. Becky's family cottage is just to the east of Rockhaven Inn. I met Becky at a Kahshe Lake Regatta in a swimming contest at the age of 10 and we became lifelong friends. We worked together as chambermaids at Rockhaven Inn, and, boy, did we have some stories to tell!  Becky and I camped at the tender age of 14 just beyond Twin Islands and I can remember her laughing as we tried to light a campfire hoping for a tasty can of beans for dinner, and reassuring me that the raccoon that landed on the top of our tent in the middle of the night would be gone by morning.

We skied together and later Becky taught my son to ski behind the same boat that we had skied behind as kids. Becky loved times spent up at the lake and would spend most of her adult life commuting up from Thornhill every chance she got to relive childhood memories as well as make new ones with her own family.

Becky loved getting family and friends together.  She loved walking and spent a lot of time with her friend, Joyce Frank, and her dogs walking up and around North Kahshe Lake Rd.  Her easygoing manner, zest for living life to the fullest, wonderful conversations, love for Kahshe and most of all her friendship will be missed beyond words.  How blessed I am to have had her as a friend for most of my life. Her legacy is her commitment and dedication to family and friends, and to living life as it should be with lots of laughter, fun, travel, adventure, and a special connection with everyone who crossed her path.
