Ivan H. Ashbury (1910 — Aug 22, 2009)

Ivan H. Ashbury, age 99, passed away peacefully on August 22nd, 2009. Ivan, a chartered accountant at CGE who served in WWII, first arrived at Kahshe Lake 63 years ago shortly after marrying Mary Lindner. They built their family cottage on the northwest point of Lindhill Island beginning in 1946. Eventually, he and Mary moved back to Mary's family cottage on Algonac (Erin Island) where they spent their summers. Ivan possessed a wonderful love of nature's beauty and an appreciation of the opportunity to spend time in the outdoors at Kahshe. He loved carpentry and devoted his holidays and much of his retirement to building, remodeling, and refurbishing the cottage. He and Mary made many wonderful friends at Kahshe over the years. He is survived by his wife Mary, his daughter Trisha, his son, Ted, Ted’s wife, Janet, and their children Andrew, Alie, and Jen (5th generation Kahshe-ites).
