Megan Davies Receives 2nd Annual 2022 Good Neighbor Award

April Drane, President, KBLA
June 25, 2022

Megan Davies orchestrated the inaugural Kahshe 5K Charity Run on an August Saturday in 2021, a year marked by a collective desire to rekindle connections within our Kahshe community. The event boasted professional-level amenities, including a crucial hydration station strategically positioned along the route. As participants crossed the finish line at Nagaya Beach, 145 jubilant individuals were met with the pulsating beats of a DJ, refreshing beverages, complimentary pizza, and enticing pop-up shops.

Despite being only 20 years old and juggling the demands of university studies at Laurier University alongside a full-time summer job, Megan spearheaded this endeavor, which garnered $2,200 in donations for Gravenhurst Against Poverty (GAP) and the KBLA. Undeterred, Megan repeated her success in 2022, with over 120 enthusiastic walkers and runners joining the cause, raising $1,600 for GAP. A lifelong resident of Kahshe, Megan's motivation stemmed from a simple desire to give back to the beloved lake that holds a special place in her heart.
